Also under the name 'Itame nibluki', this Japanese maple selection leafs out with leaf margins of red, pink, and orange on rich green leaves that have irregular curves on each lobe. The bark on 'Itame nishiki' itself is a deeper red brown which serves to bring out this brightly colored edging.

By mid to late spring parts of the leaf of 'Itame nishki' will have cream to orange margins providing dynamic contrasts across the tree. Protection from the hot afternoon sun will create the best and longest display of bright colors in this variegation for 'itame nishiki'. Fall colors on the leaves of this great Japanese maple are bright yellows to orange.
'Itame nishiki' forms a vase shaped tree reaching 7-8ft in 10 years. This 'Itame nishiki' Japanese maple is extremely gorgeous and deserves a place in any garden.
