Kogane sakae is a Japanese maple that leafs out in the early spring with large light green leaves bordered in a thick deep purple red border. By late summer this Japanese maple turns to a rich green. Fall colors on Kogane sakae are bright golds and oranges. The name translates as "Golden Prosperity" partly because of this fall color, but also because mature plants have bright yellow striations in the bark providing a unique winter interest. This is extremely unique for a Japanese maple with such amazing spring interest. 'Kogane sakae' will reach 8-10ft in height in 15 years. 'Kogane sakae' is a beautiful and unique Japanese maple that is a great addition to any garden.
