Acer palmatum 'Manyo no sato' Chartreuse Variegated Japanese Maple
'Manyo no sato' is an introduction of Japanese maple that was introduced in Japan in 1993 and made popular by Yutaka Tunaka at Tsukasa Maple in Tokyo-to. It is a photographer's delight to photograph this beauty and I'm sure it will be your most popular photos on Instagram. 'Manyo no sato' leafs out in the early spring as a darker purple red with chartreuse variegation. The purple red color fades to a mauve red, then to a green in full sun during the summer in the south. 'Manyo no sato' turns to bright orange to red in the autumn. 'Manyo no sato' means "the wonderful village of nature". 'Manyo no sato' may reach 8 ft tall by 6 ft wide in 10 years. Better act fast before they are gone!
