Acer pictum is a beautiful and adaptable Japanese maple species native to forests across Japan, China, and parts of eastern Asia. Known for its rounded, spreading habit, it typically reaches 30–40 ft tall over time, occasionally larger in ideal conditions. Its 5–7 lobed leaves emerge with bronze tones in spring, mature to bright green in summer, and finish with vibrant shades of yellow and orange in fall. Thriving in full sun to partial shade, Acer pictum prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil and consistent moisture, making it a reliable and elegant choice for larger landscapes.
