'Flaky' is a grafted selection of Abies squamata, the flaky fir. 'Flaky' is an exceptionally barking form. After 6-8 years, the bark on this fir begins to flake, adding and additional interest to this evergreen conifer. 'Flaky' may reach 15 ft in height with a broad habit in 10 years. These 'Flaky' were grafted onto Abies firma, adding a level of heat and humidity tolerance to this fir.
