'Amagi shigure' leafs out in the early spring as a bright pink-red with deep purple veining. This is by far one of the best of the Ghost-like maples with a heavy and consistent reticulated variegation. Fall colors are bright orange reds. 'Amagi shigure' can reach 6 ft tall by 3 ft wide in 10 years.
It should be noted that there is another Japanese maple by this name with small green leaves.
This form of 'Amagi shigure' is extremely desirable and highly sought after by maple collectors. Some consider this newer and more desirable form the European form, however, it also originated in Japan. Bid on this beautiful Japanese maple today!

Zone 8A Atlanta. Part sun, acidic clay soil, amended with pine bark soil conditioner, planted 1 inch above grade and mulched.
Out of the 180 cultivars that I’m growing, none hold the color longer than Amagi Shigure. The color is intense too. When others like Celebration start to dull and look washed out in the summer heat, this one retains the vibrancy all the way to fall. Truly a remarkable tree. I have another in a pot in part shade and get the same results, the color is slightly more metallic. I’m not an expert by any means but this is top shelf maple in my opinion. Pictures don’t do it justice. You have to see this one in person. Nothing like it.

I bought the normal 1 gallon, it came late summer and blew me away. About 4 feet tall with multiple branches, incredible structure, gorgeous color. Full purple or deep deep red color throughout the entire tree held with awesome veins in the leaves. You better snag one of these babies up quick
