‘Beni gasa' leafs out in the spring with large serrated red matsumurae leaves. Chartreuse begins to infuse into the red , giving ‘Beni gasa’ some unique highlights. During the summer ‘Beni gasa’ turns to a dark red green with bronze highlights. New growth on ‘Beni gasa’ during the summer is a bright red. ‘Beni gasa’ is typically a bright orange for fall. ‘Beni gasa’ may reach 8 ft in height in 10 years. ‘Beni gasa’ translates as “Red Umbrella’.
