Acer palmatum 'Beni hoshi'
Dwarf "Ruby Stars"
Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

Introduced by Del Loucks in 1996, this unique upright dwarf is often sold as 'Beni Hoshi' which translates as 'Ruby Star' or 'Ruby Stars'. This selection leafs out with a full rounded amoenum leaf that is brighter red fading to a deeper maroon. During mid-summer this miniature selection is a peachy orange providing great contrast in the garden. Fall colors are bright yellow to orange. 'Beni hoshi' forms a unique upright dwarf that reaches 5 ft in height by 4 ft in width in 15 years. As leaves mature, they become more rounded and slightly twist giving an even more unique habit. 'Beni hoshi' is ideal for containers, conifer beds, rock gardens, fairy gardens, or simply small spaces in the landscape. Protection from the hot afternoon sun is recommended to get the full twist on each leaf. This tree deserves a place in any maple collection or garden.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.

Love this Japanese Maple

Tree came well packed and healthy. It is growing well in a planter; beautiful leaf color. Quite excited to see its growth habit.
This is my 3rd tree from Mr. Maple and I have been pleasantly satisfied with each one.

Good Purchase

I was hesitant to order from a nursery so far away, I.e., the Carolinas with delivery in Utah and via truck no less--would the tree freeze in transit? No. The tree arrived a day early and had viable leaf buds (all over). I potted it into a larger pot using bagged soil and it appears to be doing well. It has leafed out. [I got in under the wire as the shipping cost went up--nice for me.] I would not hesitate to order from Mr. Maple again.
