Acer palmatum 'Frosted Purple'
Pink-Purple Reticulated Variegated

Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

'Frosted Purple' has a pink purple reticulation to the leaf that makes this tree stand out. The reticulated veins seem to hold well throughout the summer. New growth flushes during the summer are a bright red and often show reticulation as well. Fall color ranges from bright red to red purple. I would expect 'Frosted Purple' to reach 8-10 ft in 10 years. Give 'Frosted Purple' protection from the hot afternoon sun for best growth and color.

Found as a chance seedling from 'Purple Ghost' in 2003 by Talon Buchholz, 'Frosted Purple' resembles its parent, but has a lot more pink color in the reticulated veins in the purple leaves. The color is even brighter than 'Olsen's Frosted Strawberry'.

Trees were potted up to 1 gallons last spring and may have completely filled out their pots.
