Hupp’s dwarf Japanese maple

I am the ‘finder’ of Hupp’s dwarf. Mr. Vertrees had taken the original plant to propagate. He was to return that to me but ended up selling the nursery. I had inquired with new owners. They wanted to keep it but did give me three grafts which they did. Glad to see it in production (don’t know who is producing now.). Came from a random seed bed in the 70-80 (medically retired after 50 years) still have 3 grafts from original plant.

I love my Hupps Dwarf! It is at least 35 yrs old and doing very well!! It even survived a transplanting during new landscaping. It actually wintered in a galvanised trash can over the winter in my garage.
