Acer palmatum 'Jerre Schwartz'
Jerre Schwartz Dwarf Japanese Maple
'Jerre Schwartz' was found as witch's broom mutation by the famous Billy Schwartz. It is named after his mother, Jerre. This selection leafs out as a bright pink red fading to a light green by mid-summer. The secondary flush of growth returns to a bright pink-red creating a dynamic contrast over the light green leaves. Fall colors are a bright oranges to fiery reds. Because of its witch's broom nature, it is extremely dense in habit. 'Jerre Schwartz' reaches 6 ft in height by 4 ft in width in 15 years making it a great Japanese maple for small spaces. It is ideal for conifer beds, rock gardens, miniature rail-road gardens, fairy gardens, and container growing.
Trees were potted from large liners to gallons in this spring and may not have completely filled out their pots.
