Acer palmatum dissectum 'Scarlet Princess'

Scarlet Princess Dwarf Weeping Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Scarlet Princess’ is an excellent new super dwarf laceleaf that redefines what we think of as small and compact. Thomas and Nancy Ashe introduced this great tree as a witch’s broom found on the very popular cultivar ‘Crimson Queen’. ‘Scarlet Princess’ is notably different from ‘Crimson Queen’ as this selection boasts an even denser and more compact habit.

Found on the coast of North Carolina, this bright red miniature tree may be the smallest laceleaf Japanese maple. 'Scarlet Princess' has exceptionally beautiful spring color. Emerging in the early spring with bright pinkish-red leaves, ‘Scarlet Princess’ later matures to full a deeper red. Fall colors of this dwarf Japanese maple are bold displays of scarlet.

We recommend this tiny new dwarf selection of a laceleaf Japanese maple for gardens with small spaces like fairy gardens, bonsai and patio containers. The color and stature also make it the perfect dwarf Japanese maple to use as an accent for small conifer beds. Make 'Scarlet Princess' the talk of your garden today!
