‘Spring Plum’ is a brand new selection with a deep burgundy plum spring color. Chartreuse veins come into the color late spring, making a great contrast. When I first got ‘Spring Plum’ I thought it was one of the new Acer shirasawanum hybrids. It’s large full leaf was reminiscent of a full moon maple. It’s habit is fairly similar as well. The unique thing is that Talon Buchholz states the mother plant for ‘Spring Plum’ was actually ‘Purple Ghost’. This would be such a fun tree to grow and go through the seedlings from it.
