Acer palmatum 'Squitty' Dwarf Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum 'Squitty'
Dwarf Japanese Maple
Found as a chance seedling by the late Harold Johnson of Alabama and introduced into cultivation by Talon Buchholz, Acer palmatum 'Squitty' is a neat little dwarf. At our nursery 'Squitty' puts on a brilliant display of pink variegation, maturing to white. 'Squitty does not revert, however summer flushes of growth do not display the variegation until their second year.
Fall colors on this dwarf are bright orange to red. 'Squitty' is a an excellent miniature that does great in containers and fits in small spaces. Protection from the hot afternoon sun is recommended for this little pink dwarf. Squitty may reach 3ft in height in 10 years.
