Acer pseudosieboldianum X 'ISLID'
Rare Beautiful Fall Color

Cold Tolerant Japanese Maple Tree

Zones 4b-9

Some may know this laceleaf Acer pseudosieboldianum by the trademark name. We cannot use this so we are calling this by its true correct cultivar name, ‘ISLID’. ‘ISLID’ is unique in the fact that this is the first weeping Acer pseudosieboldianum to hit the market. ‘ISLID’ has a more rounded overall appearance to the green leaf that is deeply dissected. In more sunlight, ‘ISLID’ may flush orange-bronze new growth. Fall colors on ‘ISLID’ is special, like Acer pseudosieboldianum. It can have yellow, orange, and red infused across the leaves all at the same time. The overall habit is a weeping umbrella-like shape similar to traditional laceleaf selections. 'ISLID' may reach 5 ft in height by 7 ft in width in 10 years.

What makes this beautiful plant extremely useful is that it is a Zone pusher. Being an Acer pseudosieboldiam, the nursery that introduced claims that 'ISLID' will handle Zone 4. Being that they are always still grafted on Acer palmatum we find it safer to claim Zone 4B. Other nurseries have offered this selection in one gallons for $75 and are currently sold out. I expect this cold tolerant selection will not last long. 'ISLID' is from the breeding program from Paul Halladin.
