The Framett Maple leafs out with orange red new growth with pink variegation that fades to green and cream as the leaf enlarges to its full size. This new growth on this variegated red maple contrast over the green and white swirling variegation provides great contrast throughout the spring summer and fall. It can reach up to 30 feet in height creating a dense canopy of green and white. This variegated red maple is both heat and cold tolerant.
For best variegation, protection from the hot afternoon sun in encouraged. Like many variegated plants trim out any parts that do not show variegation. In the fall, the green parts of the leaf on The Framett Maple turns to a bright fiery red while the white variegation changes to a hot pink creating an amazing display in the landscape. This is a really special Acer rubrum that is highly ornamental.
