Azalea 'George Taber’ Pink Blooms with White Border

Evergreen Azalea -

George Lindley Taber Southern Indica Orchid Azalea

Zones 7b-10a

Many believe this to be one of the best of all the indica azaleas. 'George Lindley Tabor’, often called ‘George Tabor’ has a pink bloom center that fades outward to a white jeweled variegated border. A darker pink lavender blotch on the 3-4 inch bloom softens the overall bloom color and creates an artistic appeal. ‘George Taber’ is a taller growing azalea reaching 6-8 ft in 10 years. This allows for creating blooming tiers in the spring landscape. ‘George Taber’ is an excellent sun tolerant azalea in the south.

‘George Taber’ was said to be found as a sport mutation off ‘Omurasaki’ by Ernest Harris and John  Barton of Glen Saint Mary Nursey. They named ‘George Lindley Taber’ after their boss who recently had passed away.

If ‘George Tabor’ present solid sports, darker red is a reversion to ‘Omurasaki’. ‘The solid white sports from ‘George Tabor’ has been named ‘Mrs. G H Gerbing’.
