'Flamingo’ is a hardy Chinese mahogany with a spring pink color that is to die-for. The spring color lasts about two weeks and is one of the most photographed plants during this time. The sumac shaped leaves make quite a statement with the color. ‘Flamingo’ later turns to a coral, then to a green for most of the year. Mid-summer ‘Flamingo’ displays clusters of white blooms contrast well against the foliage. Older specimens develop a nice peeling bark interest. ‘Flamingo’ may reach 20-25 ft in height in 10 years with a multi-stemmed habit.
The fresh new growth leaves of cedrela are edible and can be used in your salad.
