Cercidiphyllum japonicum 'Morioka Weeping' Japanese Katsura Tree
Cercidiphyllum japoncium 'Morioka Weeping'
Japanese Katsura Tree
The cascading habit is quite nice on ‘Morioka Weeping’, with heavily cascading branches that flow downward. The blue-green foliage is quite attractive. In fall this turns to bright yellow. Another interesting thing about cercidiphyllum is that the foliage smells like cotton candy in the fall, adding a unique aroma in the autumn garden.‘Morioka Weeping’ is a weeping selection of Katsura tree from Japan that is noted for developing its own central leader to get taller and weep downward from a higher point. ‘Morioka Weeping’ has larger leaves than other weeping selections indicating that it may be Cercidiphyllum magnificum. ‘Morioka Weeping’ may reach 20 ft in height by 15 ft in width in 10 years.
