If you want a tall growing bamboo that won’t take over your yard, this is the bamboo for you. Chusquea gigantea is a cold hardy clumping bamboo that is hardy to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Clumping means that this isn’t the typical running bamboo that will take over your yard. It grows in a tighter clump. Chusquea gigantea is tall growing bamboo reaching 30 ft + in height. Younger plants will be more sea green, maturing to olive green. Older plants may be more yellow tinted red.
