Pinus parviflora 'Shikoku'

Japanese White Pine

Zones 5-7

Pinus parviflora ‘Shikoku’  is a refined, slow-growing evergreen conifer admired for its soft blue-green needles and elegant, layered branching. Native to Japan’s Shikoku region, it develops a compact, irregular upright form with naturally artistic structure—making it a favorite for bonsai and sophisticated landscape designs alike. The short, gently twisted needles create a delicate, airy texture in every season. In the landscape, it typically reaches about 4 ft tall and 3 ft wide in 10 years. ‘Shikoku’ performs best in full sun with excellent drainage and slightly acidic soil, and once established it shows good drought tolerance. An outstanding choice as a specimen plant, in rock gardens, or for collectors who value subtle beauty and character that only improves with age.
