Rhododendron periclymenoides, known as the pinxterbloom azalea, is one of the prettiest blooming rhododendron blooming in April and May. Rhododendron periclymenoides pinxterbloom has clusters of soft pink to white to lavendar flowers with protruding stamens. At least half a day of sunshine will keep them from becoming leggy. The pixterbloom azalea may reach 6 ft in height by 4 ft in width in 10 years.
