Japanese umbrella pines are unique, rare, and difficult to propagate. 'Joe Kozey’ forms a nice tight upright shape with a conical narrow habit. This makes ‘Joe Kozey’ excellent for handling snow loads. ‘Joe Kozey’ may reach 6-8 ft in height by 2-3 ft in width in 10 years. ‘Joe Kozey’ was found as a chance seedling and introduced by Dr. Sid Waxman from the University of Connecticut.
