'Hana chiru sato' leafs out in the early spring as a bright white trident maple that will light up like snow in the landscape.

The leaf itself is a bright white with deep green veining. This gives it a ghost-like appearance for a trident maple. As the summer approaches, the green begins to fill the leaf as most new growth during the second flush is more orange. In the fall, 'Hana chiru sato' continues to put on a dynamic display of colors as it turns from bright reds to deep maroons.

Hana chiru sato will reach about 10-15 ft in 15 years. Protection from the hot afternoon sun is recommended to retain this white reticulated variegation the longest. This name translates as "Village of Falling Flowers". This recent selection to the United States is rare in cultivation.
